FYI

Update: This site won’t be going offing at the end of the month - however - sometime over the next 6 months where it might actually happen as to when I wouldn’t know when.

For those who follow this blog… that this blog and the rest of my site might go down temporally towards the end of the month. Let me say that its been really tight this month in regards to funds - hopefully things will improve by the end of the month.

On a another topic…

Even though I want or wanted to write more post things, it’s just thing’s haven’t come together to form any cohesive posts as of late.

laters….

Looking for a new Camera

Over this last weekend the digital camera gave up on working basically I got it wet by the way of rain. It is and was a stupid thing to do and let it happen. Though its working to some degree, at this point in time I’m basically for a newer camera with a whole lot more features and such. The type of camera I would like to get will be said later in the post.

Basically what happened was that I walked around my family’s undeveloped property and took my Olympus camera with me to take some pictures that I might want to take. Didn’t find worth while stuff to take pictures of then before I started back to my family home, rain started to come down and I wasn’t able to cover the camera from the rain - so in turn it got wet. I didn’t do a good job cleaning off the water from the camera and so when I tried to take a picture on Saturday evening of the sun on some clouds during the sunset - that’s when I noticed the camera wasn’t turning on. At this point I was swearing at myself for getting the camera wet.

The camera that I have is an Olympus SP-510 UZ granted it may not be the better cameras to have after reading some reviews on the web. As it is I’ve been planning to get a much better Olympus model or one of the following cameras: Nikon, Canon, or Sony camera.

I’m not quite sure to what I’m looking for in a new camera at the moment. Though I want both 35mm SLR and a Digital SLR, I’m not sure which one to get first and that’s part of the problem that I’m having at the moment is choosing the type of camera that I want to use one a regular basis. When I do get both types of cameras I’m planning to get several lenses for each kind of camera. Like telescoping, mid range, and use a standard range of lenses or at least I think there is.

Though in planning in getting both types of cameras I’m planning to spend some serious money so it wouldn’t really be an issue when I would actually buy the cameras.

In the mean time, what I might do is to get a similar Olympus type camera for the interim basis entail I get a good quality digital and 35mm SLR.

But my problem is the researching part of the equation of the endeavor of getting a new camera. So for those who follow this blog or to anyone else to reads this blog - my question to you is: Do any of you know any site’s that have a good array of reviews of camera’s ?

Peter

P.S. I may post something when I would get a new camera whether if its for the interim basis or when I finally get a good quality Digital and 35mm SLR.

P.S.S. This post may be edited further at some point, don’t know for sure at the moment.

The new del.icio.us site

Well the new Del.icio.us website debuted today (31/07/2008) and I like it. However, there is one thing that I noticed that was missing is unbundled tags - a number of other users have noticed (see here and here). Granted the improvements to Del.icio.us have been coming for a long time now, and its just a matter of getting used to the design of the site. And I really don’t like the fact that I would need to look for stuff that I knew before the update and would spend a little while longer on the site to find things.

Though spending time on a website isn’t really a big deal for me, I just don’t like the fact of doing a “treasure hunt” for items that I could easily find on the old site. Just need to get used to the new site … in time.

But in the end if updating the back end/front end of a site to make things faster, run much more smoothly and the design of the site doesn’t bother the end user to or that much … so much for the better.

Just my 2 cents….

Peter

Note: this post may be edited at some point but don’t know at this time. I intended this to be posted last night but wanted to revise this post some more before posting this before the public.

an update of sorts

Just an FYI to those who follow this blog and or who visit my site every so often. I’m in the process of adding Google AdSense to this site to basically try to help with the cost of hosting this site and my pet site. The thing that was preventing me from doing this a couple of years ago - was that I needed a mailbox at my home which I didn’t have ’til last week. Though I did have a mailbox at my home a couple of years back though it got ruined over the winter and I never really got around to get it replaced - ’til this summer.

Though its going to take some time to actually update the whole site with the code.

As for an earlier post about the troubles that I’ve been having with the MySQL Server with my hosting provider as far as I know its been “fixed” but I won’t hold my breath. Seems like that there is some kind of problems with the MySQL server every so often that happens at my hosting company. Don’t know why the server’s “act up” like this but I think its bad for business and frankly they (the hosting provider) should update to the current release build of MySQL and php though after doing some testing before doing a system wide update/upgrade of the server software. But that’s just my 2 cents.

Anyways, getting back on topic, I’m going to see how the ads will do on my site between now and the end of the year. Depending on how this endeavor goes - will move my plans up on moving to a new hosting provider and move to a new domain register - otherwise, hopefully, I’ll do the move of this site later this year.

bye for now…

Peter

P.S. This post may be updated at some point but don’t know when or if this post would be updated or not.

site problems - yet again

Just FYI to those who follow this blog in readers, etc., I’ve been having intermittent problems with the hosting company that I’m currently with. I don’t know how long these problems would continue and I’ve already sent an email to tech/customer service for help with the problem that I’m having with the MySQL server

Updates will follow soon.

Diigo Links 06/12/2008 (a.m.)

using Diigo vs del.icio.us

I’ve recently came across Diigo by the way of a post over at Borderland. It seems an interesting site, enough to try it, even though I really don’t like the clutter of the site. Another problem that I have a problem with is with the after effects of the import of my del.icio.us bookmarks, though I was expecting a few tags and links to get lost during the import into Diigo.

One feature that I like about Diigo is that I could actually have links posted to my blogs, as with del.icio.us, nothing gets posted to any of my blogs - no matter how I try to get things work. I guess I could live with that for a while longer.

Though, I’m going to see how Diigo works out during the mean time. Del.icio.us is still my default online bookmarking site.

Here is my Diigo page and here is my del.icio.us page. Though my del.icio.us account is more current than what I have at Diigo.
